Denise Negron

Denise Negron

Secretary

Denise Negron is originally from Puerto Rico. She graduated from the Caribbean University in Puerto Rico then began work in the automotive industry for almost a decade providing customer service and support to clients in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central America. Denise is happily married and has two wonderful children.

In 2000, after the birth of her son, Denise became a stay at home mom.  Soon after, the family moved to Broward County; in 2003, they moved to Palm Beach County.  That same year, her son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Due to the challenges that this condition presents and the lack of information about it at the time, in 2006 Denise decided to volunteer for the local chapter of Autism Speaks.  Denise became the Palm Beach County Co-Chair for their signature event, Walk Now For Autism Speaks, from 2006-2012, as well as their spokesperson locally and in Puerto Rico.  In 2012, she was hired as a Community Development Associate for Autism Speaks.  Due to her determination, passion, and commitment, she raised over $1.2 million, and increased autism awareness in the local community and Latin America especially during Autism Awareness Month through the Light It Up Blue campaign. Her other accomplishments include the development of the Autism Awareness Clubs and the Anti-Bullying & Autism presentation in Palm Beach County schools.   She also worked as the Development & Outreach Coordinator for The Access Point Project, Inc., who provides services and resources for the special needs families.   Currently, Denise is a Teacher’s Assistant at Cambridge Schools for pre-k students.

Denise has spent over a decade advocating and providing information, resources, and support to families affected by autism.  She was also a Woman of the Year nominee by “Wellington – The Magazine” in 2012, and in 2016 was nominated for the Esperanza Awards by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County.  Denise is committed to positively impacting the lives of all special needs children, both young and older.  When she is not advocating or raising funds for those with special needs, Denise enjoys nature, exercise and, more than anything, she loves cooking!

Treasurer

I am all about my family. Six kids. I’m very close to all of them.

My youngest son Rafael is living with autism.  And my only daughter Gabriela is growing fast.

I spent 24 years in the news business, most recently at CBS12 as the News Assignment Manager.

After 4 years at WPEC-TV, I knew it was time to spread my wings. My husband died in 2013 and one of my kids faced a potential health crisis.

So I stepped away from the newsroom to pursue my lifelong dream of running a PR firm.

This gives me the flexibility to spend more time with my younger children. The older ones have grown up and are moving on to their new lives.

When you have a child living on the spectrum, finding the right place for him/her to grown socially, make friends and to participate in a sport they love could be challenging at best. Love Serving Autism (LSA) is a gift to our family from above.

I’m so proud to be given the chance to sit on this board. This organization is going places. We’re only just beginning.
