I helped start the Nashville Love Serving Autism program in 2023 after speaking about previous work I had done with the disability community at an RSPA conference. As a BCBA, I have a passion for Social Emotional Learning and using tennis as a tool to foster those skills. Lisa and I align so much on our belief that tennis can be used as a tool for teaching and generalizing, that I just had to start a program here in Music City.
In the year and a half, we have been running the program, I have seen our athletes gain better physical movement (especially jumping and lateral movement), communication (saying ‘no’ or redirecting), and behavior (able to tolerate losing or willing to try a new task). One of our athletes recently went to a Nashville SC game and identified that the athletes on field were doing some of the same warm-up activities we do at LSA. What a moment!
As a former Special Education teacher and competitive tennis player, LSA has allowed me to combine both my passions into one. The growth and breakthroughs I get to be apart of through this program has been the honor of a lifetime.
A time to honor our ambassadors and raise funds and awareness.
The mission of the annual Match Point Gala is to celebrate and honor those nominated as “Legacy Ambassadors.” These are community partners and individuals who have made significant contributions through participation, awareness campaigns, and fundraising.
Their efforts and the funds raised catalyze the development and expansion of Love Serving Autism’s therapeutic programs. These programs create an inclusive and accepting community for neurodiverse individuals, on and off the courts.
