Raising a son who is autistic, I never imagined how important finding an inclusive community would be for my family. It has truly been an honor to experience the warmth, support, and love from the team at Love Serving Autism (LSA).
My son Matthew joined LSA when he was 8 years old, almost 9. I remember searching for activities where he would feel accepted after trying programs like soccer, basketball, and piano that were not always equipped to support children with autism. LSA was the first program where we truly felt included.
At first, being on the court was difficult for Matthew due to his language impairment and challenges with social skills. However, with the supportive services and encouragement provided during every session, we continued showing up week after week. The LSA team was incredibly patient, understanding, and loving. Over time, Matthew went from needing frequent breaks to not wanting to leave the court.
Watching his growth has been incredible. LSA has played a vital role in helping Matthew strengthen his speech, confidence, and social skills. His goals have even grown from simply participating to now dreaming of becoming a professional tennis player. As a parent, seeing that kind of confidence and possibility means everything, and I know LSA has been an important part of that journey.
When LSA asked me to become an ambassador, the decision was easy. This organization has given so much to my family, and I want to help support their mission so they can continue changing lives like Matthew’s and become part of other families’ support systems as well.
A time to honor our ambassadors and raise funds and awareness.
The mission of the annual Match Point Gala is to celebrate and honor those nominated as “Legacy Ambassadors.” These are community partners and individuals who have made significant contributions through participation, awareness campaigns, and fundraising.
Their efforts and the funds raised catalyze the development and expansion of Love Serving Autism’s therapeutic programs. These programs create an inclusive and accepting community for neurodiverse individuals, on and off the courts.
